I believe the hijackers are cowards .I think hijackers just choose violent means of expressing thier anger .
It is said one mans hijacker is another man's freedom fighter . The approach these hijackers use in defending thierselves is totally beyond self defense : i consider it a pure act of hatred and war .By attacking innocent people and selfishly using thier islam as an excuse to attack innocent citizens. Statistics have shown that terroism started in the middle east and most culprits that have been caught are muslims.
I don't think warfare is the best means of settling problems.
