Ken saro wiwa was a noble and great man. He lived from 10th October 1941, November 10 1995. He was one of the great Nigerians who lived he also had a television show (basi$co). He was very successful because his television show was one of the most watched shows in africa.
Ken came from a polygamous family meaning his father married more than one wife. He was a very intelligent and excellent student because of his intelligence he was given scholarship to study English in government college in umahia. Ken was a member of the ogoni group , his father’s name was jim wiwa . “In 1970 he was the regional commissioner for education in rivers state cabinet , but was dismissed in 1973 because of his support for the ogoni autronomy”. In late 70’s ken was very successful he had businesses and estates . In the 1980’s ken’s main area of concentration was on writing journalism and television production.
Ken was working under the president GENERAL Ibrahim babangida Ken was suppose to help make Nigeria a democratic place . Ken later resigned from working under babangida because he felt babangida didn’t really want to return back to democracy he felt babangida had other selfish plans and this was true because in 1993 babangida annulled the election because of his selfish reasons .”Ken was one of the early members of the movement of the Ogoni people (mosop) that is the movement of the survival of the Ogoni people “ and he was imprisoned without trial.
In 1993 he was accused for male prostitution and drug abuse and he was imprisoned and later released months later . The government were basically against ken’s progress late in 1994 he was arrested again for murder which he knew nothing about he denied it but he was still found guilty the judge sentenced him to death and most of the lawyers felt it was an unfair sentence so most of them didn’t want to be part of the unjustful act so they resigned. The government were so corrupt because they actually bribed various Nigerian citizens to testify against him .
This unjustful act was widely criticized by the human right organization ,”Ken was later given an award for livelihood award for his courage and goldman environmental prize”. The Nigerian government found ken guilty he was sentenced to death by hanging . This unjustful act almost made all the contries toplace sanctions on Nigeria. Ken’s death was a very tragic one, his death touched most Nigerians and he would be dearly and greatly missed by all Nigerians he would continue to be a great legend of Nigeria MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE

I am glad you appreciate Ken Saro Wiwa. He is truly a great man by any country's standards. Nigeria needs hundreds more like him!
